The most important meal of the day ~ Breakfast

Do you know how breakfast got it’s name? It’s because breakfast breaks the overnight fasting period. This is said to be important because on the sleeping time our body metabolism is getting reduced, less energy levels in the body and the body is in complete rest. So to make this state of body to energy booster in the morning to do all the activities for that day, breakfast should be consumed.

By eating breakfast, the body glucose level rises , increase alertness, provides nutrients to the body, increase the metabolism and for better health. The science in this is our body get energy from glucose. Glucose is provided by the carbohydrate we eat. After consuming food, the body stores energy in the form of fat or glycogen in liver. This glycogen is useful for muscle activities. So if a person doesn’t eat breakfast, the body use energy from this storage and leads to low energy levels, decrease brain activity, less alertness etc..

Why breakfast is said to be important?

Do you ever feel lazy in the morning or feel nothing to do?? After a night of sleep the body needs fresh supply of energy thus those who skip breakfast, they are not getting enough energy and results in not able to process or concentrate anything, getting lazier, and tired. Thus the breakfast is a fuel to start a day fresh and to be active.

Another important thing is that many researches had put forward that those who skip breakfast tends to be overweight, being prone to diabetes and heart diseases. They feel hungry later and consume the food with lesser nutrients. This habit of skipping breakfast can also leads to eating disorders in teenagers and metabolic syndromes in adults.

So a breakfast should be of a good choice, cooks in good mood and should be packed with all the essential nutrients like calcium, vitamins, fiber, protein and carbohydrates. A balance of all nutrients makes a healthy breakfast. So for the better health and well being, be a person who eats breakfast like a king.

Instead of eating a lot in dinner and makes your tummy loaded, start your day with a grand meal at breakfast time.

Basics of Nutrition!

The only thing which plays an important role in a human life is food. A balanced diet is necessary for good health, lifespan, and for absence of diseases. When all the nutrients are met by a person in a single meal, then it’s called a ‘Balanced Diet’.

The ‘Nutrients’ include carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. The nutrient which provide energy is carbs which is obtained from mainly from cereal grains. The body building nutrient is protein which is provided by pulses, egg, fish, meat and poultry. The fat is the next nutrient which is present in milk, oil and it also helps in providing energy. Vitamins and minerals are called the protective nutrient which is present in fruits and vegetables. If a person include all these nutrients along with water, then their diet is said to be balanced.

The energy giving nutrient should be consumed about 60â„… of total calories. This carbs is also for the functioning of muscles and brain. Protein should be 15-20â„… of calories and it helps for growth and immunity. Fat should be also 15-20 â„… of daily calories. Many diseases are occuring while skipping these nutrients and having fast foods and leads to obesity and other lifestyle diseases .

WHO had demonstrated balanced diet in the form of a ‘Food Pyramid’ . In this pyramid, the bottom portion is cereals and pulses which should be consumed more. Then fruits and vegetables, above that milk, egg and the top of the pyramid shows meat, fish and the tip of the pyramid gives fats and oils which should be consumed less. Thank you!
