There are lots of people who have less digestive health which may be due to enzymatic problems, lack of proper food and the way of eating etc. There are some foods which helps to improve digestive health and some tips too.

The first and important factor which contribute to better digestion is chewing the food very well. When we chew the food, the saliva get mixed up with the food and helps in good digestion. There are people who won’t chew the food and they are the people who get digestive problem more often especially flatulence (gas). Research had found that maximum 16 chewing should be done for better nourishment. But we are not even chewing a minimum of 6 right?

Eat on time is another tip to improve digestion. The breakfast should be consumed in between 7am to 8 am. Consuming after 10 am is not good. Ideal time for lunch is 12:30-2 pm. Note that there should be a break of 4 hours after breakfast. Don’t have lunch after 3:30 pm.Ideal time for dinner is 7-9 pm and don’t sleep soon after having meal. So there should be 2 or 3 hours of gap after eating dinner and before going to bed. Deviation happens from this ideal timing especially for dinner is a major cause of improper digestion.

Small feedings on shorter intervals is the best way of eating. This means that the portion sizes should be controlled. The meals should not be of large amount and take break after all the meals helps in good digestion. There are some limits to eat depending on the persons body. Those who over eats more can result in digestive problems, poor digestion and this leads to overweight.

Stay hydrated every single time. Water helps in digestion very well than other factors. Water mixes with your stomach’s acids to break down the foods you eat, plus it travels throughout your system, softening your stool for easier bowel movements. Water and other liquids help break down food so that your body can absorb all the nutrients.

Include more fibers on your diet. Fiber helps the digestive system healthy thereby improves digestion too. The fiber gives a bulk to your diet and helps in proper and regular bowel movements and to prevent constipation which is a common digestive issue. The fiber rich foods are whole grains, lentils, some fruits and vegetables and dried fruits.

Include probiotics everyday. The probiotics are the beneficial bacteria which our body needs for proper digestion. They support healthy body systems from your mouth to your gut, and help control harmful microorganisms like germs. Probiotics aid digestion and improve nutrient absorption. These are especially found in fermented foods like curd, yogurt, cheese, tempeh etc and some fruits like banana, custard apple, and grape fruit. There are probiotic supplements too which is available in the market.

Exercising also helps to improve digestion. Exercising increases blood flow towards the muscles and digestive tract, which can help move food through the digestive tract. Exercise also helps to get rid of heartburn, gas, stomach cramps and constipation. Maintaining a healthy weight and regular exercise support digestion.

These are the important tips to improve digestion. But there are some factors which contribute to improper digestion are the habit of drinking alcohol and smoking. Quitting both helps in good digestive health. Stress can also cause digestive problems by making muscle spasm in bowel and can make pain. So manage your stress and have the food.

Thus diet and lifestyle changes can have a positive impact on your gut health. So those who have digestive problems like diarrhoea, constipation, stomach upset, gas problems etc..try to follow all these tips and make your bowel healthy and active all the time.

Blurred vision is also a symptom which later diagnosed as a diabetes factor.

How to diagnose?

A periodic health check up is important in today’s life. There are many blood tests to check whether diabetic or not. HbA1c test (Glycosylated haemoglobin) is the major test to find whether a person is pre diabetic, diabetic or post diabetic. This test actually give a result of average percentage of blood sugar level in last three months. The normal level is 4-5. 5.5 â„…. More than 6 % means you are diabetic. Keto diet – Good or Bad?

Keto diet is the trendy diet among today’s generation which is mainly used for treating overweight. People are running towards it by seeing the wonderful results of loosing weight within short period. The diet stresses on low carbohydrates with high fat and moderate protein. Usually, the energy is provided by glucose which is available from carbohydrates mainly grains. During keto, instead of glucose ketones are the byproduct of digestion. For sudden benefit of weight loss, keto is good but on long term basis, it leads to a condition called ketosis and some time ketoacidosis and fatty liver. All these conditions are harmful for health.

The death report was shocking for many people because the reason was diagnosed as she was following a ketogenic or keto diet. The kidney failure occur because may be she was following this diet for a long time.

What is keto and how it works?

The diet is focused on high fat and low carbohydrate and this was actually formulated for epilepsy children because studies found out that high fat can treat neurological disorders. The foods allowed on keto plan are beef, mutton, chicken, egg, fish, sea food, cheese, oil etc..This diet is not following any healthy foods. So a keto follower is using fat for energy. The carbohydrate is stored as glycogen in body. The chemical composition of glycogen has water molecules. So those who follow a keto diet, these water molecules are actually getting reduced. Thus weight loss happens because the body water is getting decreased not the body fat unlike other weight loss diets. That’s why keto is a sudden weight loss achiever because it takes time to loose body fat than body water. This is the reason that those who don’t follow a keto, takes less time to reduce their weight. Lets read some of the after effects of keto diet.

Ketosis :- When a person eat more fats, after digestion this fat is convert to ketone bodies and it will enter into brain. When this ketone bodies got increased in blood leads to a condition called ketosis. Bad breath, dry mouth, increased thirst are resulting consequences.

Ketoacidosis:- This condition is seen only for diabetic patients. There will be a drop in the pH of blood and there will be less muscle and nervous activities. If a person is having ketoacidosis and at the same time, if ketosis occurs leads to heart attack and kidney failure.

Heart diseases :- As the diet is rich in fat, it leads to increase in LDL cholesterol. The LDL is bad for heart and leads to accumulation of fat in the blood vessel and results in atherosclerosis, heart attack etc.

Constipation :- Fat takes lesser time to get digest. So the bowel movement is slower and the diet is low in fibrous foods such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Thus, constipation is seen in most people.

Liver and kidney problems :- The fat and protein put stress on liver and kidney after the digestion process. The non vegetarian foods are loaded with protein and the kidney become overloaded and find it difficult to eliminate the waste products. And this waste products will accumulate in the body itself and cause kidney stones and on severe cases kidney failures too.

So a keto diet is good for short term period but it is unhealthy. People who are pregnant, diabetic or with any liver, heart and kidney related problems are not recommended to follow keto diet.People are using this for cosmetic reasons, but it’s so extreme that it’s dangerous – Lisa Cimperman

Girls, Are you tired and lethargic?

Iron is an important mineral mainly for the production of blood in body.More than 50â„… of iron is present in the haemoglobin of RBC. Thats why we check haemoglobin to assess the iron deficiency which is named as ‘Anemia’. It is a common nutritional deficiency. Women are especially prone to anemia than men and it’s a world wide problem affecting ladies. There are many reasons behind this.

Usually when a baby is born, the body has iron reserves. And this reserves are enough for the blood formation and other functions. Later when they reaches adolescence, iron reserves will get replenish that is menstruating women deplete the iron stores and we must provide iron from foods. Also due to menstruation, a girl is loosing an average 10 mg iron through blood. Thus it’s very essential to eat more iron. Athletic women, women who works long time on kitchen and other works loses iron through sweat, pregnant and lactating women loses iron through body. Thus iron is needed for women but they are the most who are getting deficiency too.

There are different types of anemia and of this iron deficiency anemia is the most common case. In such condition, there is unhealthy red blood cells and low oxygen supply throughout the body, which is a major function of blood. Thus, tiredness, weakness, paleness ,headache, and lack of energy are common symptoms seen. Iron deficiency anemia occurs mainly due to lack of eating iron rich foods, heavy periods, blood loss due to any disease or any blood disorders.

When anemia become severe, the nail become spoon shaped, eyes and face become shivery and pale, infections will be common, heart complications etc. An anemic pregnant woman results in early child birth, abortions, and other abnormalities. Thus iron tablets are prescribed by doctor during pregnancy.

Also if there is vitamin B12 deficiency, it’s called pernicious anemia and deficiency of folic acid leads to megaloblastic or folic acid deficiency anemia. These are less common

Coming to the major thing, supplying adequate iron through food makes a woman energetic and keeps young. About 21 mg of iron per day should be consumed by a woman and if she is pregnant it increased to 35 mg per day.

Iron sources

The iron rich foods include dark green leafy vegetables, red meat, fish, poultry, pomegranate, watermelon, grape juice, dates, jaggary, rice flakes, sesame seeds, beans, lentils, peas, dried fruits and iron fortified cereals. When you eat a iron rich foods, the iron is absorbed in the body as haem and non haem forms. Haem iron is obtained from animal sources and non haem from plant sources. Why eating iron tablets for anemia if we have a plenty natural sources of iron.

So what say girls? Eat iron and become an iron lady.
